I still don't understand why anyone would consider the Quick Air or Viair compressors. For the price, are they really that great?

Actually, yes! For those needing high volume, continuous duty air, but don't have the space under the hood for a belt driven compressor or don't want to continually fill up a CO2 tank, they are your only option.

I don't think you're necessarily doing a fair comparison. While the little ARB and Caddy type compressors are great for air lockers and even filling up your tires if you've got some time to wait, try airing up an entire group of your friends with one of those. or running air tools for trail repair. or generating enough air to seat a bead. you get the idea. Even if you have all the patience in the world, you'll likely burn up that little ARB/Caddy compressor before you have enough air.

its all about duty cycle, CFMs, and what your intended purpose is (air locker, tires, air tools, etc). But I agree, if your purpose is air lockers and the occassional tire fillup, save your money and you'll get away fine with a smaller compressor.
