Check on ebay and pirate for information on the PUMA compressor. (I'd find you some links but both of those sites are blocked at work.) It is basically an Outback ExtremeAir mounted on a tank. It should be in the $180 range.

I stopped at the Checker in Faribault, MN today and they still had a couple of MV-50s left for $24.99...

I know you're not interested in the expensive options, BUT you did ask ... I have had a QA2 for over two years and no problems. I bought it to power my ARBs and fill-up tires. Usually I'll fill up 2-3 vehicles at the end of a trail. 33's aired down to 12lbs take less than 2 min a piece to bring back to 35 lbs.
FWIW, I got rid of the stock airbox, put on a K&N cone and mouted a steel plate to put the compressor and cone mount on. Works great!

Hey Steve,
My other source was sold out, so if you don't mind picking them up for me, I can paypal you the cost plus shipping. And...If you're interested, I'll give you my old Skyjacker Hydros and my poly bushing kit for the trouble.
Let me know.

Unfortunately, Faribault is about a hours drive from where I live, I was there on business and might not be back for a few weeks. I'll see if I can find any around home...how many do you want?

Don't work up a sweat over it. However, if you do happen to track one down, I only need one.
Let me know if the Hyrdos and end link kit is something that you can use. Even if you don't find the compressor, that stuff is taking up space in the garage.

Steve,
I was able to track down a couple in Wisconsin. My brother's on his way to pick them up right now. Thanks anyway, and let me know if you can use the junk I no longer need.
Jim,
Sounds like you've gotten quite a bit of use out of your QA2. After two years of filling up that many tires with no problems, you've definately gotten you money's worth. If I get half as much run time out of my MV50, I'll be happy.
I've also just discovered how cheap it is to put together a homemade CO2 set up. It can easily be done for under $175, using quality parts. I'll probably get one of these set ups going sometime soon as well.

you best bet on CO2 is to go and get a restaurant grade regulator, then get the tank from a gas place. That will give you 90 psi adn the regulator will only run 50 bucks and the tank is like 30. you can just exchange the tank after that. much more affordable than buying a tank

Yeah, that's an option that I'm kicking around. I would rather own the tank, however, as I have a tendency to break things.
So far, about the best price that I've seen is $68 for a brand new 10 pound tank on ebay. Beveragefactory.com says that they'll match prices. I wouldn't mind buying a used tank, I just haven't been able to find any decent prices on a 10 or 15 pound tank. Praxair sells used cylinders for about $30 more than I can get a brand new one for. I've also tryed a bunch of local scrap yards with no luck. There's got to be zillions of these things out there, I just haven't been able to locate a good source for one.
As far as regulators go, offroadtuff.com and williamsballoons.com have some that look pretty decent for about $35. Air chucks and hoses can be found just about anywhere, but the Comp Flex or Flexcoil hoses seem to be the thing to use (no experience with either).

I was able to try out my MV-50 today. Unfortunately, if was on the driveway and not in the dirt.
It seems to be a really nice little compressor, although the fittings and nylon hose are junk. I was able to fill a 305/70R16 from 15 psi to 35 psi in about four minutes. The compressor didn't seem to be straining at all, although it did get a little warm. At the price I paid, this was really the only option. How could I go wrong for $25???
