I don't know about smaller, but when I first did the SAS and the rig went up the air about 3 inches higher than it was before (had about 3" of lift before) was felt like I was driving a skyscraper. I was scared to death I'd tip it over the second I made too hard of a turn or hit a 10 degree slope on the trail. But eventually I got used to it. And lowered the lift about an inch or so. It's still kind of high. I'd rather be no more than about 3" of lift total right now.

I could care less about over all size and I just laugh anytime I see anyone running much more than 4" of lift. Ground clearance matters a great deal, but stability is far more important. So is the proper off road tires, lockers and finally some underbody protection.

33" tires, twin lockers, minimal lift, even with IFS, is going to get a lot further than anything with 7-10" of lift 38s or taller and open diffs.
