just ordered from man trans. should be here friday. what nasty little things will i find while swapping? as i understand it the top two bellhousing bolts are torex studs? any advice on popping the pilot bearing out? what kind of fluid should i fill the newby with? i have allen head bolts holding the crossmember and i'm betting that they're gonna get me right off to a lame start. wish i could justified the nv4500/atlas II combo but...

Hey upstate... If them crossmember bolts look like the NY ones I have seen...WOW! Go out there every 2 hours till you get the new tranny and squirt some thread loosner on them.. If they have not been out in a while and that NY salty junk has been on them they just MAY NOT break loose! Some of them NY bolts simply like where they are and will be resistant to backing out. so you've been to ny jim?! though my rig is really clean i have lotts of torches and with the t-case drop i'm pretty sure i can hack that 1x1 square skyjacker tube and put some surplus in there if i must. i'll definatly fight em to the death. it would be so nice if they'd just come out. saturday i should know for sure.

Since you spent the money to get the new tranny and clutch, the time to get the old stuff out, go the extra step and remove the flywheel and get it resurfaced. Once it is out knocking the old pilot out with a punch is a piece of cake. Just put the new one in AFTER resurfacing.
