You can get Bridgestone AT's at Costco pretty cheap. You might also try Michelin LTX.

I have been buying Michelin LTX tires from Costco for the last ten years. They are good tires, longlasting, mild tread, pretty good wet and snow traction. It is also hard to beat Costcos installation fee. $10 ea with lifetime rotation AND balancing, AND free flat repair. Plus they use a real torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts. Just keeping my options open.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
What Winston said! Hard to beat The LTX. Really changed the way my rig handled. Also (at least here in ORYGUN)Costco will rotate and refill with nitrogen gas. My tires maintain a pretty constant pressure and you get a really nice green stem cap!!

Body Damage is Cool
I got LTX M/S on my 88 GEN I and they don't seam to wear at all Now as for the factory Bridgestone Duelers that the GEN III comes with they are a piece of crap they did not last 30k miles. I now have Pirely Scorpion ST, they are awesome, a bit $$ ($165 e/a)but worthy.

88 red Montero with the Dakar Special Edition decals, 438,000 miles (As of 7/23/2012) some occational blue puffing but still strong and counting!!! I am going ppsshhh (turbo), Stay tuned =) ...
