This weekend (Oct 22-23) was the Fright Night run put on by the Point Magu 4x4 club. A few Toyotas were in attendance, including my still IFS '86 4Runner and a couple folks on this board.

I went on the twilight run, which left just before dark and got back around 2:30am. The run went through the Lockwood and Miller Jeep trails and featured a half dozen or so Halloween skits and scares put on by assorted Cal4Wheel groups.

I would rank this as being a very easy trail as long as you have some sort of traction device (locker or LSD). It was a very long trail with only a few harder obstacles, but I had a great time! My truck went over all the harder obstacles without problems (except I did periodically stall with stock low range).

Even more fun were the events put on by PM4x4, including a teeter totter, slow and fast races, and an RTI ramp. I only went on the teeter totter, because us poor Toyota folks can't afford to pay $1 per game after spending about $80 on registration and camping fees. But it was really fun none the less. I managed a whopping 4 seconds of air time out of 2 minutes trying to balance it. It's harder than it looks!

I would love to see anyone's pictures from the run. I am posting all the ones I have from playing around in the Hungry Valley practice rock piles. I have more coming later today along with some video footage.

I was very impressed with the performance of my IFS truck over the harder practice rock course (no pictures of that yet, except for goofing off at the bottom). I have rear Chevys, rear Detroit, 5.29s and 33" BFG A/Ts riding on a 4" TrailDisaster lift. I have lost interest in doing a solid axle swap until I build a cage and do dual transfer cases. I also want to bob the back, because the rear overhang was one of my biggest hangups. I had several hard landings on the rear bumper, but the Hi Lift carrier suffered no significant damage.
