I just picked up a '97 Trooper LS. Very nice rig... my future wheeler. I like it maybe better than my Monty, more comfortable to drive on road. ? The right front marker/turn signal light is burned out & I can't figure out how to get the lens off to replace it HELP! Also I'm looking for a shop manual, does Chilton make one for the '97? I'm not finding it. Thanks Bob

my troop is a '95 but you shouldn't have to take the lens off, just reach up the back side of the bumper and twist the old bulb out, then you should be able to pull the wire down a bit to fit the new one in and stick it back up in there........ again my troop is a '95 but i dont see why it would have changed, hope this helps

Scott is right on just reaching in through the plastic inter fender and bumper and twisting the light sockets 1/3 turn is the easiest, but all that holds that light assembly in place is that one screw in the upper corner, and one small post that runs horizonally about 3/4 the way down the light that plugs into a plastic clip, it seems like it will break trying to get it out, you have to pry pretty hard on it, but it should come straight out the front (not the side) As for a manual you are better off picking up a "workshop manual" that is for your year, keep an eye on ebay there is almost always some listed of different years, I've picked up three.

Just be very careful if you pry the light assembly out.
When I changed my drivers side corner lamp out, I accidentally didnt take any care as to how the assembly came out, and I broke off the upper mounting tab.
Luckily the whole assembly was being replaced anyway, but just a heads-up!

Thanks guys It is not real obvious & I definatly didn't want to brake anything. Happy Trails Bob

There's an easier way than reaching under the bumper. If you pop the hood, there's a philips head screw right next to the turn light assembly. Unscrew that and you can pull the assembly forward giving you easy access to the turn bulb. Also, these bulbs tend to get loose. Sometimes all you need to do is take it out and put it back it. Good luck.
Helms is the only way to go as far as a manual goes (AFAIK). Good luck and enjoy.
