So its that time for new Tires. I am running stock 31" tires and I am thinking of going to 33". I have a couple of questions I was hoping some of you might be able to answer for me with your wealth of wisdom and knowledge.
Do I have to lift the body at all to fit 33"s?
If I do need a body lift how much do I need to lift it?
How badly do 33"s effect gas milage?
Not sure what type of tire to buy? Need a tire that will perform well in snowy conditions (being from Canada) and also good to do some moderate offroading.

If you're planning on doing anything off road stay away from a body lift, I would recommend staying away from them all together. But if you do decided to go that route you will need 3" of lift and a little bit of trimming/hammering to run 33's. I would say go with a suspension lift if you could, it will be a better investment than a body lift in the long run. It also depends on what size of 33s your gonna run. 33x12.5 will probably require around 5 or 6 inches of lift while you could get away with only having 3 inches of lift with 33x10.5.

If I were you I would get a mild suspension lift of around 2 to 2.5 inches and put on some 33x10.5 BFG AT/KO tires. If you rub then either pound the pinchweld or cut plastic to stop the rubbing. Or install a 1" body lift. Just a 1" body lift would be easy to install and doesn't stress the truck nearly as bad as a 3" body lift.

Also be prepared to probably lose 2 or 3 mpg and you'll notice a power loss as well.

Suspension lifts range anywhere from $300 to a couple thousand for our trucks. It all depends on what you want to do with thr truck. You can go with spacers, coilovers, drop down brackets or full on long travel kits. I'd say the best you could do is probably go with a coilover, the lift is adjustable and they will give you better performance. But coilovers are $600 or more so they're a little pricey. Old Man Emu also makes really good suspension lifts. You can get an entire package that would include everything you need to do the front and rear for a little over $1000. www.wheelersoffroad.com is one vendor of OME. I would either go this route or with a coilover setup like 99TRD suggested. Then you would have to decide how you want to lift the rear. If money is tight then just do a spacer lift, but that would be the least desirable of all the options.

I want throw on 33x10.5 tires.... with a 3" suspension lift of course. However, I can't fir these tires on my stock alloy 15x7 rims can I?? If I need to get new rims, what offset would work? I have a buddy selling his rims with a 4.5" offset.

So now I know the tire will fit on the stock rim, but would this combination be ok with the offset?

I run 33x12.5 MT's with a 2.5in coilspacer. I did not have to beat or cut anything. I have a 98 that came with 225x75's. I got the spacers off ebay for about a 100. I put 3in add-a-leaf to the rear for 60, and 30 for a brakeline extension. So My lift was about 200.00 and took about 3 hours to install. The ride is a little rough because of the add leafs but all worked out fine.
