'95 (like the post mentions) would have a VSS screwed into the passenger rear side of the transfer case. Make sure it is screwed in place, the cable is connected and that is is not damaged.

The '85 4Runner (as your signature lists) would have a speedo cable screwed into the same location.

Thanks Roger! Haven't checked ecu codes yet. Not my truck. Don't usually work on later models. The woman who owns it says she has a hard code (check engine light stays on).
