Handling is definitely a concern as this is my daily driver and I am very concerned about handling under "evasive maneuvers at highway speeds.

That said, we did construct this system with about 12* positive camber on each side so handling from this standpoint is no problem.

Where I'm having a bit of a problem in handling is the width of the tire (13.5") compared to the stock steering box and body lift, which left my steering shaft angled at the compression point.

I currently plan on modifying the steering box (and porting it for later hydraulic assist) for fewer turns lock to lock and changing the angle of the steering shaft mounting plates to address these issues.

How big are the air shocks? I like air shox for affordability, but I didn't know how they'd handle the weight of my pig of a rig. How much are you having to pressurize the shox, Jim?

Well I will say, the pics don't do it justice. This is a beautiful truck. Everything is very beefy(From what I can see anyway) The system looks pretty solid, however, I am sure Jim will find a way to break it(oops, he already has )

I guess he lost all the rear diff fluid and fried the R&P...something to do with the design of the rear diff cover and breather tube.

Anyway, it is a good looking truck....all components seem well thought out and beefy....I want to see all the pics since I couldn't really roll around in the street looking at the underside.

I looked at the same thing (coils); the problem I had was that we'd have to cut through the rear fender wells and brace accross through the cabin . With the air shocks, I could keep it compact and mounted under (as opposed to through) the body, which is important because this is where I sleep when Miss Ramie is ticked off at me .

The socks are 12" SwayAways and yes, they are definitely more affordable at about $250/shock vs ~$700 for coils and shocks or coils over shocks. Getting the right balance has been a bit of a trick, but we're closing in on it. We have realized that the valves and shim packs that came with the shocks are insufficient for the weight and have ordered new valves and shim stacks to firm up the ride and reduce lean on turning. We did also put in a rear sway bar, though I don't think I took a pic of it. As soon as we get the new valves and shims in I'll post up with the pressure #s.

Thanks Jones! Yeah, and I can't for the life of me figure out how this happend . In any event, we've capped the breather on the diff cover and put one directly on the axle tube. Hopefully this, together with relocating the breather tube will address the problem.

How about an update? I am real curious to know if you've gotten the shocks tuned for good road/highway handling. Also, can I see some pics of the finished product?

Thanks, Lester
