so some pics of my adventure. digi pics are the best. they saved my ass. there was a bolt i didn't recognise as i was bolting the bellhousing to the block and thought it might be a pressure plate bolt. having slapped it on after reluctantly deciding to reuse the pilot it thought it might be possible and almost yanked it all back appart. fortunatly i had taken a pic of the pressure plate, uploaded it, varafied the bolts being installed, and proceded to assemble.

don't ever use these stupid allen bolts here

Grease didn't work for me either.
