Need a Spot
The Interior of my 94 4Runner rattles from many various locations when I drive over even slightly rough pavemant. The noises and rattles have become quite an annoyance. Does anyone have any suggestions on where and how I should begin tightening/replacing/dampening what is loose?

Thanks,
Christopher

I find if you go around with a rubber mallet and rap on the frame and hard parts of the body and see if you can duplicate the noise(s) you hear driving. If you can duplicate the noise, then follow it to it's source and fix it. On my '85, swapping the old, worn rubber body mount bushings to polyurethane was a big help in cutting down on rattles from road bumps.

Roll Me Over
I used to own a GM, so I know all about rattle/squeak fixes. Trace it down to it's source.. say RF door panel. Find exactly how it's making the noise. I liked taking the door panel off and using some felt stick on stuff where the "contact" area was for the sqeak. I'm proud to say I only have 1 rattle/squeak in my '94runner and it's in the RF door panel. on the upper part by the sill. the vinyl or whatever is rubbing the painted part of the door. So When I replace my door speakers here next week I'll be putting the stick on felt on that area. smile Good luck. I know I hate these little annoying things too.

Thanks for the advice about body mounts and the felt tape, I'll try them both.
