Getting the Wheeling Fever
I trimmed the plastic around the opening and now about 80% of the Eclipse deck fits. Its getting hung up on something. I have been driving around with the CD player like this for a while so its not that big of a deal. Just wondering if any of you guys have the same problem and what you did about it.

It is a major pain in the behind. I did alot of triming to the dash and bracket to make mine work. I did find out that places like Circuit City sell mounting kits that will allow it to slide right in. I wish I had taken that route.

I know that when I installed the sterio in my 86 runner I used a kit and then I think that i had to flip the kit over for the sterio to fit. Toyota uses a shorter and slimmer deck then the common aftermarket stuff so you have to play with it a bit to get it to fit.

Nope, Toyota uses the exact same size deck as everyone else, everyone just tries to use the DIN sleeve to install them. If you take the sleeve off and screw the deck directly to the factory mounting brackets, they will all fit like stock.

This is true, same thing happened with mine, i just had to install without the sleeve, and another edge peice that went around the faceplate. Couldn't ask for a better fit.

OK, i am so confused. My pocket is below the cd player. is It supposed to be the other way around? This sounds so dumb but if thats the case, how do I take the pocket out? It looks like i have to take the dash apart to get at the bolts. Sorry for my retardedness in advance and thanks for the replies.

Oh, and i definately had to trim the dash a little. No getting around that, the CD player was wider than the opening. Maybe its different from year to year. I'm talking about my '94 FYI.

Exactly. Should be the same size as every one else!

I have my sleeve on the bottom of the head unit and it fits perfectly! No trimmin' required!

If i don't use the sleeve, and put it in the original spot, it will fit perfectly, but the P/O already cut (hacked) up the bezel so i used the sleeve... Some day when i get around to it (and get a good price) i'll get a double-din touch screen that will fit in perfectly (we measured my cousins kenwood excelon and it will fit in perfectly...
