Tucker is right I just finished a cd install in my 87 pickup yesterday evening and I used the factory brackets and did not incur any fitment problems other than getting the wiring positioned at the rear if the radio when I first installed it.

Use the factory brackets and and dont use the sleeve with the stario and you will not have any problems along with it being a very stable install.
