See that there's quite a few of us.

I have seen a few of you from time to time - on the road, hittin the high country

Would like to know if you guys ever get together?

I also see that there's quite a few of you running 32" shoes, some with automatic's - I presume??

Have any of you re-geared or having any problems going up I-70?

You probably don't see me that often - my junk's usually parked.

You can see a lot of the get-togethers that we have over on the trailseekers maillist:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/trailseekers/

I'm running 35's with a bone stock drivetrain (although I've got 5.13's in the axles). I can crawl up to the Eisenhower Tunnel and over Vail Pass, but this isn't really a roadtripping machine.

I'm just now getting around to installing a tranny cooler and temp guage as my 4L30E is well on the way out. When I was running 31's way back when, I never had any problems with that stretch of road, even fairly decently loaded down.

Get a transmission cooler, though. Mine (cooler, guage, mounting bracket) was under $100 from Summit Racing.

I'm runnin' 31's right now and have no issues with the passes. I also have a little higher gearing than later stock 2nd gen Rodeos. If you haven't already, a cheap way to get a few more horses out of your 'Zu is by getting an air filter like KN or Green. Lets your engine breath better.

I agree with Mikey, check out Trailseekers, they are they best group of guys and gals I have ever wheeled with. Also chances are if you have any need for help with your 'Zu someone in Trailseekers has experience with your issue/mod and will be more than willing to help. Just don't try and compliment Travis' Rodeo.

Welcome!! Well I'm here in Denver with my 1st Gen Trooper. Where in Colorado are you from?

The Trooper's pretty peppy going up to the Tunnel. Though, I prefer to go up and around it on Loveland Pass. Much more scenic, even in the Winter.

I'm here in Franktown, CO - just south of Parker.

It's good to hear from y'all

My rig is a burgundy color with a long luggage carrier on top. I'm sure you've seen me - my spare tire has a big eagle cover.

Yep, Im here in Parker, and we have an auto tranny.
[Linked Image]

At one time we had 32s with stock gearing. NEVER had a problem pulling the passes, albeit @5-6k RPM in 3rd gear, but I could pull them.

I switch axle ratios to 4.77 and then went to the 33s. I still can pull the hill but she gets winded. Gas mileage is pathetic, but when you lift/put bigger tires on you obviously arent in it for fuel economy; thus a moot point. These trucks are for play not for fuel economy.

That is why I retired her for daily driver duties and bought a DD car.

Like Mike sez, Trailseekers yahoo group is where the CO crew meets.

yep, hes 12... been wheeling a BUNCH with me and he has taken over picture duties... Got a GOOD eye for pics.

yep over 100k been on 33s for over 40k

changed gearing in tcase and diffs...

Ive been lucky with the tranny... a crappy GM 4L30E. It suffices but would be better with a 4L60E.
