Got a chance to buy an 84 PU 22R w/Webber carb, and a header. It's kinda rusty but the price is right. Any thoughts?

it's a good carb, simple to work on. most guys that don't like em don't know how to tune em

the aisin is a good unit, but didn't work right on my stripped down engine. well, it did work well for the first couple months, then started having problems.
after a while i started building my engine, and found it was even less adequate on a modified engine. ran much too lean for me, only real option was a weber or aftermarket EFI...

i was just told recently that the aisin carb flows slightly more than the weber 32/36. why would it not work on a modded engine short of the 300 vacuum hoses on it?

remove the choke plates and yes, the asain flows more. but the asain has a vacumm actuated secondary that restricts alot of flow. I swear up and down that a 32/36 puts more to the seat of the pants meter than stock. Its fun chirpin the 33's with locked 4.30 gears on the 86 2wd Yep, 32/36 and an EB crawler stick.

i wouldn't call the aisin carb a "vacuum secondary", but that pointless secondary choke plate is vacuum activated. mine's got a lot more low end kick to it now with the weber.
not to mention the way i have it set up, there's very few moving parts.

so if the secondary choke plate is removed will it still choke and warm up properly?

A stock 22R carb flows 290 cfms and I hear talk about setting up a 22R carb for racing and flowing somewhere around 380cfms.....sounds pretty dang good to me. And you get to keep all of your stock emissions stuff (if that is important to you....) And you don't gotta worry about fixing it all the time.
