And where did you hear this? I do have one of those modded carbs laying around. There are little gains here and there by REMOVING emissions but nowhere near turning a stock asian into a Holly 350. Look at LCE's website, they have a racing carb they build and everything is removed. Its pretty funny to look at. I'm sure you have to manualy choke the carb either with your hand or a removeable plate, but once the engine is warm, the gains should be obvious.

sorry, not sure about keepin the emissions stuff but that shouldn't affect how much the carb flows....and also I was a little off with my cfms, it's quoted to be able to flow around 360, not 380......... I read a article in the 4WD Toyota Owner magazine about carb tuning, seems you can do some pretty impressive things with that aisan carb. I've also heard from talkin to a guy at a toyota shop down here in Phoenix called ToyoWest, that in his opinion the aisan is the best unit you can use for the 22R as long as you set it up right. To be fair the carb would be nowhere near stock by the time your done....you can modify it to accept holley main jets, get a better primary booster, reshape the venturi and some other tricks. But then again your webber is about as far from stock as you can get and for those of us who need to pass a visual emissions test, somethin like this is a great alternative! Oh, BTW here's the site of the company that was interviewed in the article: Braswell Carburetion Check 'em out!

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know of a good place to find a Weber carb? (i.e. a 32/36).
I upgraded everything else when I did my rebuild (EB 261C cam, header, flowmaster exhaust, etc..), but I've neglected the carb. department. I wondering how much more a Weber would wake up my engine

ebay, or check the local classfieds or craigslist. they're no longer made, but there's so many of them out there, you should have no problem finding them.

They are still made. They are made here in the US now instead of Italy. http://www.racetep.com/weberX.html is a good site also. ToyoWest are a bunch of hacks and should die alot. I had them do a clutch for me and they cut my shifter boot out to get to the bolts. They then told me that it was like that! This was all in my pre-mechanic stages of life but they also charged about 2-3x how much it should have cost. I had my engine rebuilt for how much the charged my dad for the clutch job. Bunch of hacks.

actually, the carbs being made in the US to my knowlege are the RGM model, not a weber. pretty sure the 32/36 was only made in spain...

so if the secondary choke plate is removed will it still choke and warm up properly? I removed my secondary choke plate last weekend (stock Aisin carb).. I was searching to see if anybody has done this before and found this thread! For the most part it runs fine, however as soon as I step on the throttle it wants to die on me. I didn't have time to tinker around with it yet though:) I imagine it's just getting too much air when the secondary throttle plate begins to open (only happens when you're nearly at full throttle). Anyone have any ideas?
