My dad called today to tell me it passed!! It actually had 30% lower HC and NOX than 2 years ago! I'll get a scan of the papers when I'm down in phx next time if you don't belive me.

2003

odo 157K

Test Standard
HC 1.29 3
CO 6.57 25
NOX 2.9 4.5

05

odo 176K

HCO .88
CO 7.36
NOX 1.83

If you don't remember, this is an 86 2wd with 33's and 4.30 gears (which makes the speedo right on) The exh is stock. The engine is original except I put EB's Crawler cam in it. EGR and A/S system are hooked up to the weber and with those numbers, working well.

He said that he got in the line with a little girl running it because he figured that she wouldn't notice the weber. Well he was wrong. He was watching from the waiting area as ever single guy in the place looked under the hood at the vac lines I redid. One even wagged his finger at him. They did the test and with those numbers they just told him to have a nice day! smile

I'll try to draw out a guide to hooking up emissions for a weber next time I'm in Phoenix.

I've found that many smog shops in California will refuse to even run the numbers when they see my Weber 32/36, even though there is a sticker which exempts my model from the "no no list". The shops tell me that they get in so much trouble if they do something wrong, that they won't even chance it. I end up having to find a place in "da hood" to do it for me... even then I think they just pass it through sometimes...

ArbitraryNotion how much of your other emissions equipment do you still have? smog pump, air injection? I'm in Phoenix and I have none of this stuff and am hoping that I'll be able to pass.....

If it has been removed you will not pass visual. The main ones they look for are the Air Suction(Air Injection depending on the year) and the EGR. The charcol canisters must be intact also.

>>>*Thanks, Josh! That is good to know, we have a few folks out there that worry about passing the visual, even though the Crawler camshaft should easily pass in all 50 unless something else is haywire.
They haven't been too bad on specs here in Oregon (yet) but our Governor seems to think we should copy California which is tough on Mods.
The silly part is just like your experience, you actually improved on what the factory supplied.
I think the results tell the story, and government should take that into account....*EB

I'm still stoked that I improved on the factory design. Another win for webers! smile
