How about two hose clamps with a connector link between them to hold the upper part of the KYB to the lower?
That should be easy easy to rig up in place. You can get some extra compression on the shock by prying agianst the top of it.
Yes, getting them back out is a pain!

Sure mine came with a nice compression strap right out of the box. I was thinking they were "normal shocks" and I cut the strap early. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Won't make that mistake again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My rear KYB's came with compression ties but my front's did not. Weird, especially since you need them on the front but not on the rear ones.

Good news: it worked. I just test drove it, the shocks are nice. Of course the automotive gods are smiling, I noticed my radiator is leaking like a sieve, now I get to do that too. Hopefully one of the parts stores will have one, this is my only vehicle and I need to go back to school monday.
