A true custom part, I have to say looks like he did an outstanding job . What's so bad about doing something different? I don't know him, but I don't think our trucks would be half as custom or inovative if it weren't for the guys who try something different, or just make it themselves, like ZUK.
Keep on fabricating thanks Talon .... So true. ZUK

The very first x-over steering that I every saw was a welded double arm just about like Zuk welded up. The only difference was that it was set up for Heim joints with double shear like the arms Roger posted. Take a guess on who made and sold it???? All-Pro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw it on Jon's 4-Runner at a DATD at Hollister Hills. I made 2-3 of the double arms like Zuk made and the people I made them for ran them for years with out a problem. Another bit of trivia. The first A-P Hy-Steer arms were welded together units that were made from one-inch steel and they were very strong. How do I know, I ran them for five years without a problem. I broke one this year at JV when I hit a rock wall at 30 MPH, the arm did not break, and the pin that holds the trunion bearing broke off. After five years, Marlin (Marlin use to use A-P arms for his High-Steer) still warranted them and I got a new set free. If you think, the welded arms cannot be strong, U B Krazy!!!! Here is what the welded steel arms looked like: ![[Linked Image]](http://pics.montypics.com/oops/2005-11-11/1131759918_steering_arm_1.jpg)

Hey OOPS, I did a search....maybe I can't search but seems nobody makes the Y-arm anymore. I looked over at FROR and ALLPRO but no go. Wonder what the deal is? cheers ZUK

There was a company in Canada,Aqualu Industries Inc that made them also but looking at there web page I did not see them.

i agree for the most part you shouldn't try welding steering arms. however, it looks like zuk did a really good job here, so it should be pretty safe. the stock arms are forged steel.

They still sell them but @ $259 US for a single arm they have priced themselves out of the market: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.aqualu.com/Photos/Temp%20Accessories%20Pics/Steering-Arm-1.gif) I had one I had made that I gave away a few months ago after hanging on the wall for a few years. It had been used for ~6 years and I did both an LPI and MPI on it for giggles before giving it away to ensure it was still sound.

Wow I'm surprised you were able to weld on that cast iron. I saw a J arm bust on Sunbonnet (near the Hammers) and was trying to figure if it could be trail fixed like I did to this idler arm with a couple of batteries. ![[Linked Image]](http://67.122.16.97/lars/4runner/trips/2003_05_18_Miller_Jeep_Trail/DCP_0028.JPG)

Wow I'm surprised you were able to weld on that cast iron. Easy, steering arms are made of forged steel, not cast iron. Aside from the engine block, exhaust manifold(s) and EGR valve, I don't think there is any other cast iron on the Toyota trucks. Easy to check for iron or steel with a grinder. Just touch the grinding wheel to the material and if you get dull red sparks, it is cast iron, if you get bright orange/yellow sparks, it is steel.
