Body Damage is Cool

Doing an ifs susp lift.. I'm on the last cam bolt. I got the nut off, but the bolt is stuck to the bushing - bushing is twisting with it. I've wailed on it with a sledge, hacked at bushing with knfie.. it won't come out. I tried using some MAPP gas to burn it, but I need a new tip so that didn't work too well. Any ideas??
Also, my driveaxle has seemed to pop out of the cv inside the outer boot, is this normal or did something break?
Thanks,
Scerb

what was your tool of choice to cut it out.. can't get grinder in there and sawzall cant really get at it either.. Oh, and napa says 15 bucks each for the bushings.. i assume i need two for one bolt? Advanced auto said 48 bucks each.. what the heck..?
Thanks,

I have used a sawzall to cut the bolt out. get a short blade, one of the "torch" ones, and cut through the rubber bushining right to the bolt. its a little dicey because you have to keep the end of the blade from hitting the frame on far end of the stroke but it can be done. also get plenty of blades because you will use them up pretty quick. when you get the "A" arm off place a small bottle jack inside the "A" arm and place pressure from the inside out while heating with a torch. it stinks and is a real PITA but it has worked for me. when you reassemble break out the antiseize. i put it on the bolts and a light film on the metal part of the bushings. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I used a hydraulic bottle jack (a long one) mounted horizontially and braced against the transmission crossmember to "press" out one of my lower control arm bolts.

I have used a sawzall to cut the bolt out. where exactly do u stick to blade to? For example, I have to cut my front left bolt. Do you stick the blade btwn the metal end of the bushing & the frame bracket? or btwn the metal of the bushing & the rubber? It's kind of thigh in there...

I just cut right into the rubber of the bushing on which ever side is most accessible. its just a little wider than the width of the blade. come in from the top, you have to man handle the sawzall because you cant let the foot on the saw rest on anything, but once you get through that bushing its smooth sailing. If your still not sure i can email a picture tomorrow, dig camera is home but all cables are at the office...

I helped a buddy do it, and he ended up getting it out with a air impact hammer. You know, something like this
