 Rough Idle/misfire problem please help

hey guys...today while i was trying to diagnose my problem i noticed it has a rough idle and a miss thru all rpms. when the miss occurs it sucks paper thru the exhaust i checked timing. tps and idle adjustment. all my vaccuums are right. does this mean my valves are burnt or to tight. my motor is under warranty whats the best way to see if my valve's are burnt. im gonna rip her open right now to see if there to tight other wise i guess i gotta do a compression test correct. are there any other things to look for. the motor only has 15,000 miles on it its reman recon motor thats still under warranty! any help will be greatly appreciated

valves are clearanced to spec. anyone else got ideas??

today the truck stalled on my twice a little after i push the clutch in the idle goes down to 500 and just dies while moving. if its in nuetral and i rev it up to 4000 rpms it stumbles throughout the whole rpm range. does this sound like an egr valve?

Try tapping on the EGR valve to see if it is sticking open. If the idle clears up, than that is your problem.

there are no codes present. taped and rap'd the egr but nothing. i will add that the problem is only present when the truck warms up.

does a 91 truck have that problem with the injector splices??

For a test, try plugging the vacuum line running to the EGR valve itself. EGR is only supposed to come on when the engine warms up and only at certain operating conditions. If disconnecting the valve helps, then the vacuum lines to the EGR modulator may be plumbed wrong. IF there is no change, then the EGR is not at fault.

well i did a compression check and showed outstanding results #1 171 psi #2 169 psi #3 171 psi #4 171 psi. i believe that is max psi so my motor is still fresh! does this rule out my valves. it really does't suck paper any more. i just replaced the wires and now there is only a slight miss every 2 seconds when i give it some gas. anyone else got ideas on what to attack next
