My auto hubs engaged when stopped and stuck.... I know that because when I was stuck in snow and they had disengauged going from forward to reverse.... And were making that big bang as they re-engauged. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

I agree. I actually had no problems with my automatic hubs. There were times that i was stuck and placed it in 4WD and rocking the car . You could hear the noise when the hubs locked and the truck moved foward. I went to the manual hubs just to assure positive engagement and hopefully improve my gas milage. I cant say that i have noticed any improvement in milage. But i do have peace of mind.

I also agree, the autos will engage while standing still or in a mud hole (if they are working properly) because it is the rotation of the ft drive shafts that lock them in, not the tire rotation. The Hub lock light will not come on until you move because the sensor requres more than one rotation of the ft drive shaft to indicate the hubs are locked.

I also done it for the piece of mind, you turn the lock dials they're locked. (or something's broke) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
