Yours stick out because you have aftermarket wheels...do you know the backset on those? Probably 3.75" or so...the stock wheels have an inch or two additional backset. This will also affect how/where they rub. On stock wheels they are more likely to rub the inner side of the fender at full turn, more so than along the wheel lip.

It is true that the 10.5" wide 33s will be less likely to rub - but plenty of people with only an OME lift have run 285/75s with little or no rubbing on stock wheels, and they are about 11.5" wide IIRC. With 3" lift he should be in pretty good shape...if somebody has direct experience with this particular configuration (2nd gen Trooper, 33" tires on stock wheels, 3" suspension lift) chime in.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ok now I'm confused again smile. So would a 33x10.5 on the factory snowflakes rub? Or, how about a 32x10.5? I appreciate everyones help.

Thanks,

Kevin

Yeah, my wheels do have 3 3/4 backspacing...However, I do remember a post a while ago when Wareagle had issues with 33x12.50's rubbing. He also has a Body lift as well as the 3 in. suspension lift. It has been well noted that 285's will rub slightly with spirited wheeling. A 33x12.50 is approximately an inch wider and will rub even during daily driving without proper modification. In my opinion, you should go with the 33x10.50.

Still looking for somebody who has 35s on a 2nd gen Trooper to tell me if a body lift is required...not crazy about body lifts, but a little 1" BL wouldn't be too bad.

I think you'll need the BL. My 33/12.5/15s sub on 15x7 Snowflakes (0mm Offset). The 1" BL and cutting of ARB bumber reduced "most" of the rubbing, but I still get some in spirited dricing (ie. running over a couple of telephone poles and stack of concrete blocks at 5+ mph).

Before you buy, I would insist on a trial fitting. Some people have reported issues with some 15" wheels providing clearance for the brakes.

Body Damage is Cool
I run 33/12.5/15s w/ 15x7 snowflakes. They rubbed a lot in the front w/ a 3" torsion bar lift. I had to cut ARB bumper, remove flaps, cut flares a bit, hammer firewall, and add a 1" body lift. Now rubbing is very minimal.

BTW, 285/75/16s and 33/10/15s never rubbed even w/ stock setup.

So you had 33x10.5x15 on snowflakes with factory suspension and no rubbing on your 95 Trooper? Thanks for the info.

Thanks,

Kevin

Actually, I did not run the 33/10.5 stock. I picked them up after adding some lift and removing front mudflap.

During late spring of that yeat, however, I did run the swampers when front was set to stock height (bad BJs and towing season).
