Not too sure bout how the 3.0L filter is, but I do know that only some filters have a back flow check valve.
the 3614 does, but the ph16 does not(this is the larger fram that will fit i think)
So in closing, you want a filter that has the backflow "valve" to hold the oil in the filter between eng. restarts to avoid cold startups.
Some filters dont have this valve cause the orientation of the filter ie.. right side up, allows gravity to hold the oil in.
