I neither so said nor inferred same. I wouldn't shoot one unless it had lunch plans with me as the main course. We killed them off around here by cutting all the trees, thus killing off all the white tail deer, which were their main food source. I talked once to an old ranger named Sosebee who claimed to have killed the last deer in GA back around 1920. We have deer coming out our ears and into our cars now, and we could use a few eastern cougars again. I've looked for one for decades, and never seen one, but I did see a red wolf once, and mama bear and cubs (over my shoulder as I retreated post haste) in the real wilds (I don't consider bear sightings in the Smokies as the real wilds). Last I heard, the only confirmed sightings were in the FL swamps...

Far as I'm concerned, the only really dangerous animal in the woods is man. I have no need to revenge my ancestors. They won, and I really LIKE being on top of the food chain.
