What do you mean MY OPINION <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ....I think that's a novel idea. I already spent 30 minutes under there just staring at that ugly over-load. The back half is not needed at all with the secondary system and the front half will stop just as much wrap-up as before.....actually it will stop more because I will take the half board down to the spring shop and have them put some tweak bends to raise only the front lip (the front 12" or so) up about 2 inches which would let the front overload "hug" the front leaf pack more solidly. This should not stiff it up.....with the back half cut off it should be a little softer yet.


You know.......if the coils where a little higher poundage rating....like 250 or so.....I could, just for grins....cut the entire rear of the spring pack off and the coil would 100% support the "up-down direction" cause that's all that coil springs do.(Leaf packs generally support in all 3 directions.) Well with the rear 5 leafs cut off, the front half of the leafpack would now act as control arms. It would be drivable but it would also still need a panhard. A panhard(which is basically another "control arm" in the same direction as the axle length) would not be very hard to make.
