leafs are by far the weakest link in my ifs suspension
which i've pounded on with no bumpstops
none of the shok mounts hav bent
4x has 9/16" mounts in rear
one could always fab a simple reinforcement

if i dropped my truck outta the sky onto the wheels
the suspension would break
but i bet the airshox would not
shock end eyelet/studs would bend/break with enuf force
moot force since truck is totalled...

frame would be bent too

Thats funny cause I watched a show where they too a Hilux (british show I think) and they tried to kill it in the end they put it on top of a building that was being blown up then recovered the truck which was very very dented then they installed a battery and it started up and drove away, well it drove anyways. .

stock rear TJ coil with the top cut off a bit. fits perfectly, and a nice 2" lift to fix the saggy butt on my brother's 87 4runner. no fabrication necessary.

total cost: $5 for some 'junk' TJ coils

great idea ZUK!

Not bad Napolean...not bad

looks like it gave it 2 inches....it's off the springboard and those TJ coils are also about 150 pound/inch rating so it must ride SOFT.

it really is the best option, IMO. when my 4runner was stock, i used some lift shackles. they fixed the saggy rear, but they didnt help the ride any. we were considering a long AAL for his ride, but when i saw this thread, i decided this was the way to go. didnt have to fight a single rusted bolt!!! that automatically puts it way ahead of the competition.

the TJ coils kind of "neck down" at the top and bottom. at the bottom, it fits perfectly over the bumpstop to hold it in place. at the top, if you just cut enough to "open it up" it fits over the bumpstop "landing pad" perfectly.

had to borrow a set of coil compressors from the local auto parts store to install them, but that just means no worries about them coming off.

so anyone with a hacksaw, sawzall or a grinder with a cutoff wheel and some jackstands that hit the frame can do this.

i got mine from a jeeper in my club who lifted his rig and had these left over.

any 97- current jeep wrangler will have these. the rubicons have a slightly taller coil if you are looking to get a little more lift ~1.5" more perhaps IIRC.

you can prolly score a pair in the wanted section of the board for cheap/free.
