ZUK, you may want to cap off the square tube used on the lower coil mount and capture. all of us who dont live in AZ will benefit from not having water, snow, mud etc build up in there.
im assuming your kits are no welding required, so how do the upper mounts attach to the frame? that's a good point, Napolean. The biggest prob we seem to have here in AZ is the dust collecting on the hood....I have found it necessary to invest in a California dustbuster. Ya, you assume correct...no welding "required" but each upper mount attaches much quicker with 2 short 1" MIG welds. It's more trouble but it can be drilled/tapped/bolted in place(2- 5/16 course thread grade 5 bolts would suffice per mount).

Hey Zuk Ive got 3" blocks under the rear of my 88 runner but the rear still sets about 2" lower than the front, front has 4" IFS lift. Would the stock hieght application suffice since the top of the spring pack has been lifted by the block? Or even better do you think I could apply the coil setup to allow me to get rid of the blocks altogether? Yours still has the stock factory worn out leaf packs with the stiff overload leaf? Still have the factory length shackle? If so, then that means you have about the same 8" measurement from leaf to frame as shown in the very first pic of this thread page 1. Yes, the stock application would work for you and lift it between 3 and 4 inches....and that's with the 12" long coils. In your case, that means if you took the blocks out it might still be a little low BUT with the longer 14" coils... then you would be about right. Longer shackles could add even more height. Blocks suck EDIT---actually....I just thought of this....could do something like I did for Geriatric....but instead of a 4" spacer under each 12" coil.....make it a 2". And, if for some reason it is too high, then the spacers can be removed with minimal trouble. This would allow you to get rid of the 3" blocks you have now and get a soft ride again. By the way, a 2 inch spacer under the coil actually effects the lift by about 1" due to the sharing of the lift between the coils and leafs.

the small end fits nice over the bumpstop? any fear of the rubber on the bumpstop shearing off? think i'm gonna go for it. if you jack the frame to max how much do you have to compress the coil? very cool...

In reference to the picture on the first page, I have more like 6" from the bottom of the frame to the top of the rubber bumper.....not good..it only gives me about 2.5" between the rubber bumper and the metal hoop on the frame. do you think you could set me up with something that would let me lose the blocks and get my lift back. i've got pics if you think it would help...

FYI< I got my ubolt flip kit today and welded my stock bumpstops to 'em. As soon as I have a few free hours I'll get the whole thing done and post some pics of coils with 63" chevy springs.
If Mad Max had a 4runner...

Yep....like Napolean says, for a strickly DD truck there should be no shear or coils popping out issues. You should be able to force the coil in there by hand...if the springs are drooped good. I did. Napolean---Let me take a look at the way my spare TJ coil fits on my lower mounts(2.5x2.5) first. Brent-you have mail.

I see some TJ coil references say 97-04 and others say 97-05. Are the 05s definitely the same as 97-04s? Don't want to get the wrong ones.

If I wanted to install a set to just prevent sagging for when I load down my bed and don't need any lift since I already have 1.5" lift via shackles and like the way it sits right now. What would be good in the way of what coils to get and their length? I can't take any measurements until end of January since I'm deployed right now, but just trying to gather some good info while this thread is still active. Thanks guys.

Merry Christmas and thank you for your service! Sounds like you're going to use a stock 12" long TJ coil....much like Napolean did. So I assume your shackles are about 3" longer than stock? My gut feeling says the "Napo coil" will about work for you(see pic below)....you might have a little more lift but you can reduce it by putting stock shackles back on. Now the thing that bothers me is the TJ coil is about 6.5" in diameter....so it comes closer to the tire than my skinny red coils. But that might only be a concern with wider 12.5" tires. This would be more of a concern on 85 and older rigs with the narrower housing....the 86 and newer ones are 3" wider. The Napo coil is not self capturing but heck, most people wouldn't mind that in a DD kind of Runner. Sometimes you can get the coil for free if you know somebody. EDIT::::In your configuration, this would mean a softer ride....yes, your leafs will likely never sag ....and payload goes up. Not bad. ![[Linked Image]](http://web.missouri.edu/~pje3k5/rear_coil.jpg)
