We also discovered a propagating crack at the point where the crunched spot near the left front IFS frame (apparently from a car collision) so I cleaned and MIG'd it up.....good for another couple years.....until the SAS comes <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

After looking at Kyles left rear spring pack, I could not come to any good conclusion why that side would suddenly fatigue...granted, the packs are 20 years old...in any event, the coils did the trick.
Kyle, if you get a chance, get a couple pics of your dad's Chevy packs....especially the area where the dual coils would go.....and the inches from center of pack to underside of frame. thanks ZUK
