I havent had any experience with the new lathes, just the 55t ones. Those are pretty slow. a 65t would be even slower, and a 45t would be a little faster. So personally, I would go with the 45t.

Cool! Check out my page to learn what I did with my 1:18 to make it work better

http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/afertig/88/nylint.htm

Just yesterday I added an additional gear reduction to the gearbox inside the axles. Now its SUPER slow! I had to hack the hell out of the axle case though. Hopefully it will hold up.

Hey Brian, what did you use to reduce the gears even more? Was looking on rccrawler and looked like someone used one of the Taymia (don't know how to spell it) gear box? Went to my local hobby shop to look around to see what they had, and those were available, and looked familiar. Was wondering if those would work.

ahhh!! wouldn't you know it... Walmart had none in stock. Well, it was 3pm on Christmas eve.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> Went to Toys R Us too and nothing. So the search is on. Can't wait to get it - and modify it!! Thanks for the link Adam! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

I reduced my gears using that Tamiya planetary gear box.

I'll have a write up here in a while on how to do it, once I get some longer screws. You have to hack up the axle case to fit the now longer gear box.

It is MUCH slower now. And when I switch the high low to high, its the old low. So now I've got low, or SUPER low.

edit....I uploaded a few pics of the gears here
