My 88 V6 truck suddenly started idling high even while warm.....seems like warm up cycle never kicks off. Crappy gas mileage too. The truck will sometimes go to normal idle after being shut off hot and restarted a short time later. I havent look too far into the problem, but after hunting season Im going to tear it apart and fix it. Any suggestions preferably from someone with the same problem?

my 4 cylinder 22RE was doing that same exact thing, I took mine to an import specialist in my area, and he said something w/ the EFI was out of whack and the fuel to air ratio had to be tweaked, and something called an "OC" had to be tuned as well. Also claimed something in the throttle body was either clogged or just not functioning. $75 later and it runs perfect. Not sure if your's is carb'd or EFI so just letting you know what I had to do =)

Does this change when you depress the brakes at a stop sign/light? This sympton is sometimes related to a vacume leak, ck your hoses/connections.
It could be as simple as cleaning the T-body intake....
