Did you get the problem fixed.

Here is something I dug out of the "2002" service manual.

"Failure condition- The 4L mode is displayed even in 2H or TOD."
"Indicator lamp status - all exept "check" indicator lite."
"Transfer lever position - 2H or TOD"
"4WD Auto switch - On or Off"

Possible failure caused by 4L switch shorted to ground or failed switch.
