A few weeks ago my 2001 Trooper started pulling to the left. It started about 3 weeks or so after I got my tires rotated. I wonder if the tires could be the problem.
Air pressure is ok and I also had the alignment checked.
It pulls to the left even at very low speed (walking speed).
Any idea what it could be?
It is a stock Trooper with no mods. The tires are Bridgestone Revo 245/70x16. No uneven wear on the tires.
Thanks
Stefan

When was the last time your bearings were repacked?

Right now with my '92 it pulls every which way slightly every now and then. My bearings and balljoints are overdue for maintenence, so that's where I'd start looking.

How did you have the alignment checked? Troopers are kinda quirky when it comes to alignment. On my old 99 I had it in to Sears like half a dozen times and they never did get it right, even though their computer said it was "within spec". Finally I took it to an alignment specialty shop, with nary a computer in sight...they aligned it with string and chalk and who knows what, and it was perfect.

May also want to check for a stuck caliper. Easy way to tell is the smell, or heat that will be radiating from the wheel. My trooper pulls to the right, but then to the left under hard braking. Ball joints and Bearings are in my future smile.

Some good posts here already, but a note on tires. If it's pulling to the left (w/good alignment) check the RIGHT tire, and vise versa.
I've done the string alignment for years and have never had a problem with it. The more complicated machines get, the more things can get outa whack and nobody knows it's happening and if the did wouldn't have a clue what to do to correct the prob.
My guess is you have belt shift on the right front tire.

Mine does the same, I'll tell ya, it's fun to drive when I have to hit the brakes on an uneven/bumpy road with mismatching asphalt. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, that'd to it. The worst for me is when it's somewhat slippery out. If I have to slam on the brakes (or stop quickly), I've got to steer about 20' or more to the right to counteract the pull to the left.
