I grew up in Kayenta, and know most of Monument Valley like the back of my hand, same with Mexican Hat area, and Cedar Mesa/Bears Ears.

Ack!!! I was the Dept of the Interior lead inspector on Peabody's Black Mesa/Kayenta operations. Spent one week a month at the Wetherill Inn for 9 years. Spent many, many, many hours exploring Black Mesa, Skeleton Mesa, Slick John's Canyon, Copper Canyon area, and a whole bunch of places that I don't even know if they have names. If I was a single man, I'd live there (not because of the abundance of women, but because I'd be divorced if I did move there). Used to camp out on top of the mesa overlooking Kayenta and Chilchinbito...and, there are elk and lion up there. Great spot!
