I'm beginning to think that the sailcloth soft top is mostly hype! I have the sailcloth top on the '05 LJ (it was OEM) and the have the pre-sailcloth top (also a Bestop)on the '98 TJ. I really find neither to be as quiet as the hard top, and I find the sailcloth just as noisy as the pre-sailcloth Bestop. I've never check it with a meter, but just casually, it seems the same. I've found the pre-sailcloth top to have better waterproofing. I had about a foot of snow on both Jeeps, the snow melted and pooled between the windsheild and the 1st bow. Both Jeeps set for several days, but it was the new sailcloth top that allowed water to seep through; not the pre-sailcloth top. The noise appears to be mostly due to the fabric flapping between the windshield and the 1st bow. I've seen a new product that allows for an additional bow to be mounted between the windshield and the 1st bow to eliminate this fabric from flapping. Has anybody tried this Yet? I've also noticed that all Bestop's softtops do not fit well on the passengerside rear window where the rightside tail inserts into the body rail. It seems to be about a 1/2" or more longer than the rear window leftside tail. The rightside rear window tail always works itself out of the body rail. I have this problem on all three Bestops I have on my three Wranglers, I have the Supertop on the 94 YJ. I suspect that the problem is with their jig --- it's never been updated at their factory. But this is a minor problem.
