I am looking around to see if anyone has done a Ford 5.0 engine conversion into their toyota. I got the idea from the featuresw hot toys section and I am running through my options. It is cheaper and more plentiful both engine and aftermarket parts then the toyota 3.4 conversion, that's my main reason. Also the power and potential for power far exceed the 3.4. I just was onder how much room there is upfront for the radiator and fan, either with or without modifying the front clip. Thanks

3.4 is about the limit you can reach with added power v8 will need a v8 drivetrain. Simple answer is it wont be cheeper in the long run and you probably will have having an undependable vehicle that was once very dependable. lots of work for debatable gain.

i wouldnt under estimate toyota drivetrain. i know a guys witha blown 350 and 560 HP all youta drive train this guys lites up 38's but its a show truck and never sees dirt. a lot of hp and 4 wheeling dont mix something is bound to brake but it will be cool. i here 5.0's are the hardest swap there a wide motor and it will be difficult to fit headers but it can be done. another plus is the distibuter is on the front

actually the 302 is narrower than a 350, a lot lighter, and the distributor is in the front. only drawback is that it's a little longer than a small block chevy
and why put a ford engine in a toyota? don't you dare tell me that you wouldn't like to have V8 power in a little right like ours. sure, i love my 4 bangers, but it's always been in the back of my mind...

I've seen some writeups on 4.3 liter Chevy swaps that seem to go nicely. I have one in my Astrovan that just keeps going and going. Pretty quick to, for a van. Faster than my 22R and hills don't bother it at freeway speeds. Just a thought.

The Aussies have done it. Check out this guy's page. Has a lot of detail about the swap too. Cool website, very nice guy too. http://members.ozemail.com.au/~jonhel5/I personally would rather keep it all a Toyota, but that's just me.

Pretty quick to, for a van. I agree. I was test driving a customer's at work, and I was amazed at the pickup it had! Seems like it would be a great swap in a 4Runner!
