I haven't had a chance to try it yet. If it dosen't stumble with the jumper, would this indicate a faulty fuel pump? Or something else?

How do you test the fuel pressure? Is there a fitting on the rail for a high pressure gauge?

Read the web page for the full story, basically it could be the AFM FP contact or the circuit opening relay or the pump.

I drilled and tapped the back end cap on my rail and screwed/soldered in a brass pipe fitting to accomodate an electronic fuel pressure sender than feeds a gauge in the cab. Other options are to put together the fittings to tap into the cold start injector feed line for a gauge (supposedly NAPA has those parts).

I have this problem slightly too. Works itself out in about 20 seconds or so - seems just like it might be burning coolant...BUT!,
I have checked my HG by pulling all the plugs, did a pressure check on it, and frequently check my oil (no sign of white). Pretty sure that isn't it. I was thinking I need to do some more TPS adjusting. (course it is 13 degrees out..that may do it).

I had been running the fuel pump jumper constantly on until it started getting cold. That really made the truck run bad on startup when it is cold out. It would almost knock for the first few on startup. Unplugged my homemade jumper and it made a world of difference for winter starts. Any ideas on that one Roger?

I ran with the fuel pump test jumper in for a few years straight (until the CO relay started working by itself). No problems with rough running with it in or out. The pump should be running when the engine is running, no matter how it is getting power. You might check the vacuum line connecting to the fuel pressure regulator. If it is leaking, you'll get too high of a fuel pressure at idle and this can make the engine run rough. I got rid of all the VSV and assorted hoses on mine and just ran a 3mm vacuum line from the intake to the FPR.

Mines not nearly that bad, it only lasts for 2-3 seconds. I'm going to try the jumper and see what happens.
