So, let me get this straight. The guy takes a perfectly good IFS Toyota truck, then takes a rolled junker Jeep Cherocar and combines the two?
Of course, being a Cherocar, he has to fabricate an almost entirely new frame for it. Then figure out how to make the Cherocar suspension geometrically fit the new custom/hybrid frame, then figure out how to shoehorn the Jeep engine and tranny into the Toyota truck body and Jeep dash into the truck cab and get it all to somehow mesh into one drivable vehicle.
All I can say is.....
Golly, Geez-wiz....Somebody forget to tell that guy just how cheap and easy it is to make a stock Toyota pick-up into a wheeler that could put any Cherocar to shame.
For all that trouble and probably money, he could sold the parts on the Jeep, then did an SAS on the Toyota, and been way ahead of the game. Heck, he'd have stronger axles if he just stayed with the Toyota.
I think I'd be VERY afraid to ride in that thing on the street. But to each his own. I don't mean to be overly critical. It just seems like one of those ideas that belongs in the "far more trouble than it's worth" catagory.
Sure wish I had shop like that, though.

I guess it is a "Jeep thing" and we don't understand.
I understand that it looks like way too much work.
If something breaks, won't it be that much harder to fix or replace parts?

Whoaaaa!!! I thought I had crazy ideas, this falls into a category that I don't even talk to people about, much less actually do.. Looks like he is a good welder and fabricator of stuff though. A+ for effort but how much time did he invest?? Time is money in my house.

I second "i thought my ideas are rediculous" comment . Does seem like a whole lot of/way too much work, to put a bunch of jeep parts into a yota. Also second Brian's thought, that he could have done an sas and such to the original yota and been way ahead of where he is now. I do have to give props for trying it though, even the heep guys are. Very bold move, and commend him on all that work.. looks like it will be a huge pain if he has to replace something....like a head gasket, with the engine so close to the new firewall he made. He's definitely making it work though.

that's the jeep delusion a lot of guys with the newer stuff have. dumping money into JUNK like a 30 or 35 and then not wanting to part with it since they've put so much into their scrap metal.
at least the 4.0 is a good engine, but i think a little heavy for a toy...

holy ****. i wouldnt even fathom doing anything like that. i hope he knows the axles in xj's are very weak. most of my xj friends put in full size axles and are actually thinking about converting to leaf springs in the front. but if you have the imagination and A LOT of free time on your hands, go for it. dana 44 in the front, ford 9" in the rear and detroits in both. we just put a 350 in this truck and all it needs now is the radiator. it puts my yota to shame though lol. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/gromnvabeach/DSCF0025.jpg)

you do have a REALLY good point haha. what really makes me feel good about my truck when im out wheeling w/ them is that they always have problems on the trail or beach(mostly the xj's overheating issues) and mine just keeps goin. the kid w/ the xj's grandma even said man that little white truck is going all over the place lol.
