Thanks for the toast Smiley... Unfortunately i will be in Cancun on those dates..its my birthday on the 8th and my buddies and i are goin down for the weekend DARN haha.

As for the flex shots.. i was trying to find something to flex on, but other than my roommates xterra, and the neighbors piece of crap volvo, there is not really that much to flex on... ill try to pile some tires up or something and see what i can do.

I have not gotten my other 2 37s yet. I used my roommates old Xterra wheels and tires on the back, little 30 inchers haha and the 37s on the front... it looked funny, but i was able to move it, which was really cool.

Pics to come.. the project is on hold for the next month for various reasons.. See other post to come in a few days as too why that is..

Peace

Joel

I am digging this back up after almost two months of little things.

Here are some Simuflex shots haha

I finally got two more 37 MTrs after waiting for 2 months.
I also had Independent4x install my front ARB and 5.38s.
Thanks to Mike Bantz for selling me his ARB!!

Today i measured for bumpstops, and realize that getting them to work right is going to be more of a challenge than i thought.

Also it looks like i might have to cut everything off and move the axle forward another 1 or 2 inches, because the tie rod is hitting the pitman arm, just barely on any compression. That might sound like a big deal, but the way i have made the mounts, it shouldnt be too bad, just a whole bunch more cutting with the angle grinder(WEAR THAT FACE SHIELD!!!haha).

This thing sits lower than my Trooper that has a 3inch body lift, 3 inch suspension lift and 33inch tires; which is pretty cool, because the pickup is Spring over front and rear, with 37s

I drove it around the block again today, i love the sound of the rear tires chirping in the turns. I cant wait to get it on the trail

TO dos....

Shocks
driveshafts.
herculine interior

I guess thats all for now..

Peace

Yea, experienced this problem with my setup too. One option to think about as an alternative to moving forward more is to run behind-the-knuckle steering arms. many vendors are making these now.

my first setup:

2nd setup, axle moved forward to allievate problem:

3rd setup, behind the knuckle tie rod:

Could you scrape by with drilling new spring pad center holes in the axle spring perches about an inch?

I really like the behind the knuckle idea. I am going to look into that, i think that would be less work(more money)than the other option. OR i can just run it like it is, and put giant bumpstops in there, to limit the up travel to about 1 inch. Ghetto? haha

I never thought of redrilling the perch holes. Thats an intersting idea as well... Are there any downfalls, or potential problems that would result from this?

Thanks

Joel

So here is how i solved my problem... I did what i originally said i was going to do. I cut the shackle hangers and the front spring mounts off and moved them forward 3 inches. It was much more difficult than i had expected, and a lot more time consuming as well. I really wanted to do this right, and not half ass it though. So here are some pictures.. And one question...

THis is before moving everything forward...
[Linked Image]

...and after..
[Linked Image]

SWEET even more wheelbase!!! just what i needed(sarcasm)

I just like this picture....

Ok to my question...

I now have these 3 inch long fangs sticking out of the front of my truck. They are 1/2 inch plate, so i know they will hold up to the stress.

I am trying to figure out a way to make that front look a little more pleasing to the eye. Do any of you all have any suggestions? Perhaps some Photoshop work would be good?

Thanks a bunch

Peace

Joel

Getting the Wheeling Fever
How about if you 'stretched' the front end, puting the grille where the front spring hangers are. It would take some uber-talented and expensive bodywork to make it look good, but just think of the room it would create in the engine compartment.

Here's a concept rendering:
