One other thing...although still possible, the breakage on teh 2nd gen tie-rods seems to be very minimal to those of 1st gens. From what I understand Peter(PPlotz on here) broke before his trip to Colorado Zu this year, but only once before. He is running 35's and from what I saw, isn't exactly easy on the truck.

So, although the chances Seem to be less likely to break then a 1st gen it is possilble. A good fix(at least to get off the trail) is to learn how to stick weld, and carry a coupld of jumper cables and batteries(if you wheel alone) Then some extra metal that can be welded in place. This is how they fixed Peter in Colorado and it worked pretty well. I know Sweater has pics of it if you are curious.

I don't know what what used to sleeve this (I've since forgotten, but I know Julie provided it) but do know that it took three batteries in series to do so. With that, I think they were running into burn-through, actually.

In the left, you can see the rod heading into the rack through the boot - so this is not a matter of popping off both ends of the tie rod and screwing on a new one.

Ask Jeff Mason how hard it is to replace a rack - he just did it a few weeks ago after we blew him up on Holy Cross here in CO.

i'd guess i can come up with some version of the rack end that is bigger/stronger........that is a differnt product.....but i would be willing to devote some time to it.

i would really just need a rack to play with. I need to see the connection at the rack end......we know what the knuckle end looks like.

At this point, I'm pretty sure that i will be doing the intro price at $179.99 for a pair. (after that, reg. retail will be $199.99) + roughly $10-15.00 shipping anywhere in the U.S.
