No..mine blows...lol..sorry bad joke
but really, my heater blows so hot i cant brethe sometimes. But when my t-stat was out, it never blew even warm, then again my eng never heated up either.
see if your temp rises to mid way then turn it on. if still not hot then I dont think it is a t-stat issue. i would try valve at that point.
1/4 in t-stat hole is kinda big. If the eng never warms up all the way then the heater will not be hot.

the temp gauge goes up to just below the halfway point. i drilled the hole in it because it would go up towards hot when pulling my toy trailer up over the grade out to the desert. now it does not.
the valve on the firewall seems to be working fine. the shaft moves freely and when i had the hoses off, it controlled the water flow by pushing it in or out.

You might want to consider a dual-valve t-stat as an alternative to drilling the flange:

I run one and get loads of heat out of my heater and the engine has never overheated since I installed it.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
What about air trapped in the cooling system that found it's way into the heater core?

HEY 4CRAWLER!
Do you have an after market gauge, and if so what is your normal operating temp with that thermostat? Just want a number to compare to mine, not sure my gauge is working properly.

my fresh air flapper door broke on mine, letting outside air blow directly into the cab. mite be worth looking at if your getting hot water.

It is too available, I have a stock of them if you can't find them locally:

Just the factory SR5 gauge, runs a few needle widths below horizontal. I just got an infrared thermometer gun so one of these days I want to see what the hoses and radiator read temperature wise.
