So...I have a funky noise coming from my alt..., since its out right now I wanted to open it up and maybe replace bearings. but I wasn't able to open it. Anydoby knows how to do so?

Yes, but I don't recommend it unless you know how to solder and are prepared to replace the rectifier and voltage regulator if you damage anything.

I'd really not touch this(Been here done this!) - get someone that does it for a living to do it!

Once it's apart it's still a real pain! (Accessibility is just awful!)

If you get it recon'd - get the brushes and the rectifier done at the same time - these are completely internal and really should be replaced as standard when opening these up!

Yes, leave it alone until it fails. Mine has been making that funky noise - for about 10 years. I can even hear it inside the cabin when radio is off. If you're bored and need something to do - try polishing and detailing your truck.
