I have been rebuilding my 84 pick ups 22r slowly over the past year. I am so close to starting it now, it's making me crazy. Anyway I filled it with coolant and held my breath waiting for the first leak to appear and was not dissapointed. It's very small luckily. Not so good I can see exactly where it's leaking from. The freeze plug on the driver side is weeping just slightly. These were replaced when the block was done. My question is this. Will this possibly stop once the engine is up to temp. and expands a little? Or am I screwed? This can't be fun to replace in the vehicle. anyones thoughts are appreciated. thanks Jeff

Is it in all the way?? id give it a few love taps. It might get worse as the pressure increases

I didn't install it, so I can't say for sure. It appears to be in correctly, just leaking ever so slightly. At this point I'm not sure how I'm going to procede.

mine leaked(don't ask why, it's embarrassing), so i used a half bottle of bar's stop leak. never leaked since.

Not always, though. If the leak continues, find a socket that is 40mm OD and give the plug a little tap, enough to very slightly move it. That stops the leak about 90% of the time, if that doesn't work then a bit of block sealer does the trick...*EB

i was always told to stay away from block sealer b/c it clogs everything up.
87 22R PU, 2? body lift, 33? BFG muds, 4.88's, F&R Lock-Rights, Rancho Shocks, EB's Street RV Head w/ 268 Cam, LCE Header, 2" to 2 1/4" exhaust, Flowmaster 50 series, Magnaflow high flow cat, complete Herculined SR5 interior, V6 BB, MC, and calipers.

Thanks for chiming in Ted.( and everyone else too) I feel better hearing about this being somewhat common. I have really been taking my time making everything right. I am just waiting for my exhaust and looking everything over real good. Just in case... what sealer would you recommend for this problem Ted?

It is a commercial sealer machine shops use to stop exactly this little problem and some others, we call if Magic Seal.
It is for pinholes, cracks and tiny leaks like you describe.
It is a little cube, just break it up, drop it in the radiator and run the engine fo a good half hour, the leak will be gone.
*No concerns at all with plugging anything, I have used it for over 20 years......*EB
