Right now I have some 265/70R16 Super Swamper SSR radials and I'm looking for new tires now and I'm really considering 32x11.5 Super Swamper SXs. According to Interco's web site the 32x11.5 SXs should be the same diameter as my SSRs but an inch wider, but I've heard those measurements aren't accurate.

How rough will these bias SXs ride, say compared to Radial SSRs? I've heard that they will ride really rough but I'm hoping they won't ride much rougher then my SSRs when I had them at 60psi. How fast will they wear compared to SSRs? Do they weigh a lot more? How difficult is it to balance them, impossible? Run out issues? If any one knows how much the 32x11.5 SXs weigh or how they really measure that would be awesome.

These are for a my Passport that I use as a daily driver half the time but I also do a lot of mud bogging and pulling people out of the mud when it's rainy so that why I need a really aggressive tire.

I just need to know any thing you guys have to say about them.

I will never again run a bias ply tire on a daily driver. The ride is ok after first mile the tire will return to roundness. But cold they are lumpy. Bias ply tires wander the road badly. Stick with radials and you will be happy

ditto. x2 for the SX.

Its bearable (by my standards), but you won't like it.

If you're wanting an aggressive 32 for a DD, look at the TSL radials (32x10.50). The SX is a good design for serious rock duty because of the tank-like sidewalls... but that is not really a key attribute for someone who is into mud. One of our work trucks when I was a kid had bias ply tires and I'd never want to DD a set. Buy a set of TSL radials and sipe them and you'll have a tire that is tougher than the SSR's while still providing the increased road comfort of a radial. Still a swamper, but at least a radial swamper

Check out www.greendiamondtire.com and see if there's anything there that looks good to you, as well as www.high-tec-retreading.com to see if there's anything there you like. I intend to get a set from High Tech as soon as I have the cash. Plus, you can't beat that price.

as far as strength goes its hard to beat and SX swamper. They are heavy too, I don't know that you can find a heavier tire in any given size. They can be tough to balance and keep balanced. Not that you would notice all that much anyway with the lousy ride.

I wouldn't dismiss sidewall strength competely in mud. Plenty of small sharp rocks have claimed tires in mud holes.

For a daily driven vehicle with a need for mud tires I would look at the more agressive radial designs. Some of the better mud tires in this class would include the Swamper Truxus MT, Radial Swamper, BFG MT, Mickey Thomson MT. I've seen and heard good things about the Truxus tires, but haven't used them personally. The Good Year MTR's aren't the best mud tire IMHO (I love them anyway).

If none of those tires is agressive enough for you, the good old standard bias Swamper TSL is hard to beat anda better mud tire than the SX, and is quite a bit lighter than the SX's too.

Beyond that, pay attention to what others are successfully or not so successfully using in your area.

Good luck

Not dismiss it completely by any means. You never know what could be hiding in a mud pit; rocks, tree roots/stumps, broken truck parts. But I'd rank sidewalls as less of an issue for someone that does mud compared to someone running the rock sluices at Disney.

The MT/R wasn't designed to be a 'mud' tire per say anyway; as in, it wasn't the primary focus. They were initially marketed as an 'off-road' tire with more of a focus on rocks. MT/R = maximum traction/reinforced sidewall. They are 'good enough' in the mud, much better than an AT, but worse than many of the other on-off-road tires. But like you said, I love them anway

I have Super Swamper SX 32x11.50x16's on my 98 Amigo. So from this stand point I can say a lot. First.... I love the aggresive tread pattern on the side walls and knobs. I love the crawling abilities of the SX's. I also love the look of the SX's on my black rock crawler rims.
What I don't like....
1. OMG loud tires! Amigo with soft tops make the noise louder I'm 100% sure of it.
2. As a daily driver these tires wear fast and not evenly(bias-ply). These tires are very.... VERY knoby. All the alignments in the world will still leave these wearing wierd. If you do go with them make sure they put the weights on BOTH sides when balancing them. Be prepared to buy a new set within 1 year if this is a daily driver.

Overall, do I like them?
Yep, this is my second set.

I think my buddy happened to get a particularly good set of SXs, cause my opinions of em are a lot different. I'm sure part of that is Interco's quality control. Also, part of it is when you buy tires from online warehouses, sometimes they'll send you out-of-round and unbalanceable tires that local shops have sent back.

Anyways the tire in question is 38.5x14.5x15. They took a bit of weight, but did balance out. The first thing I noticed is, they aren't really that loud. I would say yes, louder than a radial mud terrain, but not anything like the roar of TSLs. They ride a bit rough at lower speeds due to the knobbiness, but it balances out at like 25. They get very minor flat spotting overnight, much less than other bias plies.

Offroad traction is awesome. The width makes for a huge footprint and great flotation. He's had em mostly on mud and trails, not many rocks here. The SXs have really good sidewall protection.

They are wearing very quick, but the test vehicle does have a spooled rear and a front end with worn out tie rod ends and loose bearings. I'm not sure how long they would normally last, maybe 25k?

I would not recommend for a daily driver, because of the short life if nothing else. For a weekend warrior that drives to the trails, sure. If you are not worried about wear, I would recommend em over other swampers. Unless you are doing straight mud, then you gotta go boggers.

lets say a 32" tire and a 38" tire are going the same speed--the 32" makes more revolutions so it is probably giong to be louder and wear faster.

(for you guys that have to clear things with your SO, just tell them that ^^^ its a much smarter investment lol )
