I ordered it and installed it a few weeks ago. Everything went smoothly; fast shipping, easy install, no problems at all.

I didn't install fuses... if the fusible links ever blow I'll just plug into the old harness to get me home and then put in some inline fuses. The harness tucked up under the lip by the radiator, and I mounted the relays next to the battery on an existing screw, so all in all it's not even noticeable.

I haven't checked the voltages with the truck running yet, but with it off, I got ~12.5 V from the new harness and ~12.1 V from the old. So, my column switch must not be too corroded. But, I plan on getting the Hella Vision Plus headlights at some point so I didn't want to be pulling the extra current through the switch, and I figured getting this harness would be cheap insurance against, and would give me a backup plan in the unlikely event of, a future failure.

The lights *seem* to be slightly brighter now, but that could just be me...

Thanks 4Crawler.

Good work on the install. Even with that small voltage increase, you should see about 10% more light and better bulb life. If you go with a higher wattage bulb, the voltage difference will increase. And if instaling the relays saves you from having to tear apart the steering column to clean or replace the headlight/combo switch, you are already ahead on time!

Santa is supposed to bring me a new harness from Roger for Christmas. Good to know that the install is pretty simple. I'm looking forward to better lighting.

Really simple install, two headlight plugs get swapped (pull the old one off, plug the new one in), plug one old headlight connecter into the mating connector on the harness, find two sheet metal screws near the headlights for the ground connections and hook the two power leads to the + battery clamp, alternator post or to fuses depending on how you want to set it up.

Can take as little as 5 minutes depending on how much "stuff" is in the way of the headlights, varies with model year and engine.

I'll also add to this by restating that the install is a breeze. When I upgraded to 4crawler's harness I did the Hella Vision Plus headlights at the same time, and the difference in headlight brightness is incredible. Just wish I could do the same with my 98 Chevrolet Truck.

My 86 4Runner now has such bright lights at night that they rival the brightness of the headlights from my wife's 2002 Ford Explorer.

Great mod. Simple install and immediate change.

Thanks,
James

While I havent ordered the harness(yet), Santa is bringing my fiance some Hella Vision Plus headlights for her Cherokee for Xmas thanks to Rogers suggestion... I hooked one up to my truck just to see the difference between old vs new, and it was amazing...
