Where is your temp needle during regular driving conditions?
If it goes anywhere above the half mark you have issues.

Check the fan clutch after driving a while. Turn the engine off and try to spin the fan. If it goes more that a 1/4 turn or so it's going bad. OEM is the way to go on this part, I have seen many post about aftermarket ones not working after a year.

Your Radiator is 20 years old so it's time to take it to the shop.
