WAAAAAY back when in 1976 when I had a LUV I also worked for a company called Sunshine Industries out of El Cajon California. One of the products they built as a new spindle kit for the LUV. Basically it relocated the hole on the spindle and effectively gave you about a 4" lift without cranking the torsion bars. I have no idea if they are still in business or not but it may be a worthwhile search.
Additionally way back when.... I put a campershell on my LUV and cutout the seperation between the compartments. Everyone thought I was crazy and that was a stupid idea. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
And just for another tidbit of ancient history. After cutting out the compartments I renamed the LUV to L.U.V. for Little Unfinished Van.
