EXACTLY! Saw a story in the 4WD Toyota Owner mag, wondered what happened to it...

Solid
Axel
Swap

Basically you swap a solid axel into the rig and totally get rid of the IFS, heck of alot better off road!!

I woul not do a SAS on an 2005 model. ain't worth it unless you need the articulation and are climbing rocks. mud and water you stock IFS should be fine. its all how you drive it

Actually the 2 things that SAS excells in are MUD and rocks. How many competition mud boggers have you seen with IFS on them?

True a good drver can wheel the piss out of a IFS rig but it has alot of short comings, as far as I go, and livin in AZ SAS is the only way to go, and when I get enough money, I'll be doin it to my rig.

dude he has an o5 Tacoma. I am sure it is not his intent to make it is competition bogger.
Your truck will be sweet with the SAS
for him to swap out a completely good IFS would be on the border of lunacy or the good fortune of having more money than brains

3" will be fine to fit 285's (roughly the 33" equivalent.) They will rub on the inner front fender a bit under turning, but it's not unbearable. I'll be trimming the inner fender soon enough, just haven't gotten around to the task lately.

I've just finished testing the Tuff Country kit and will soon post an article. As a teaser, this kit would be fine for the mostly street and provides needed ground clearance for the '05 in the dirt.

The truck rides on 285/75 BFG All Terrains and 16X8 Discount / America's Tire house brand alloy rims. I run the tires a bit soft (34 front / 31 back) and they ride just right on the street. HTH

My wife wants me to lift her 05 Tacoma and the only size suspension lift I can find is 3". She wants me to go higher than that...is there one out there?

Thanks,
Ed.

why higer? you puting on a 35" tire or something? I think 3" is all they make for the susp. unless you lisft the body and the susp seperatly

Here is the SASED '05 they were talking about. Go to the links below to view pictures.

Thanks, Wyatt

Welcome Wyatt!

Is it a daily driver yet?

Hope you can make it to Az in March... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Hey Mark,

It's not a daily driver for me because I drive about 1,200 miles a week between my two companies, DeMello-Offroad and my construction company, plus we're still doing some neat things to it.

I'm trying to get it done so we can bring out there this March. We Really want to try some of those trails out there with it.

Thanks for the welcome and look forward to seeing you at AZ Rocks. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
