My driver side seatbelt has stopped clicking into the reciever, and if I dont reef on the belt after putting it in, it can release... Jeez.... showed up at the dealer, and they agreed it was no good, and are getting me a new one ASAP, asked for a quote about replacing the belts, (the right passenger belt has been slammed in the door so many times that the plastic sheild is getting knocked off, and the replace now label is starting to peek out) and it seems to be about 400 for both belts, retractors and labor... I got the parts on order to be done asap... I have no desire to go through a windshield... The important info is I called Toyota and they are going to cover the replacement of the buckle...
makes me a little happier.

you could save some money and replace the seatbelts yourself. they are like 150-ish brand new from toyota. and they come pre-assembled. its like 1 or 2 bolts at the bottom and one bolt up top and it comes out, doesn't take 5 minutes.

the time consuming part about it is removing the plastic to get to the spool with the crappy retration device we all know doesnt work like a toyota should.

Dog if I read your post right your buckle just won't release right? On mine I have the opposite problem mine. The push button wedges down and won't pop back up so I can't get it to buckle always. If I tap on the reciever I can get it to release and its fine. Though the next time I have to go through the same routine. Anyways thanks for the post I'm going to swing by the dealer as it is for sure a safety issues as it sometimes does buckle but not properly and will release.
Oh on the belts mine are the same way I just deal with it since I need to save the money for other things.

I have to pay the dealer to get the buckle done, and then I am faxing it to toyota who is going to cut me a check....
call toyota first, and get a case number, then go from there.

ditto on the cant get the seat belt in the latcher thingy, mine gets stuck too, you would think that the seat belt problems would have been recalled with the steering.

... you would think that the seat belt problems would have been recalled with the steering. Recalls don't get arbitrarily generated. Recalls don't get generated until the consumers complain enough; makes you wonder how many other folks have just been putting up with their seat belts. I like Catepillar's philosophy. They get 3 complaints about a problem area, and they'll generate a recall, if nothing else, for inspection.

got everything fixed...
the dealer couldnt find the buckle in tan, so they gave me the one in grey and installation. the belt and retractors where 145 each, and it was 297 to install them. I may have been able to do it my self but the consequences of screwing up where to great. It is kinda wild to see the belts quickly retract into the doors.
and in a totally bizarre dealership experience, the manager of the service gave everyone in the waiting room 10 gift cards or 2 movie tickets... finally get to go on a date with the wifey!
guess I know where i will be taking the truck for the big 120K work...
